The “CHATUH SHLOKI” is one of the sixteen holy scriptures composed in Sanskrit by the universally venerated spiritual World preceptor, Shreemad Vallabhacharya. The “CHATUH SHOLKI” enshrines in four Sanskrit couplets the four PURUSHARTHIS (The four cardinal objects of human existence) of the PUSHTI MARG (The path of Grace). The natural of four basic human aims- the DHARMA (DUTY), The ARTHA (WEALTH), the KAMA (PLEASURE) and the MOKSHA (SALAVATION) OF THE pushti marga (the path of grace) are totally distinct from their corresponding counterparts acquired in PUJA MARG (THE PATH OF WORSHIP) through various means as mentioned in the SMRITI (Holy Scripture). Supremely accomplished SHREEMAD VALLABHARYA has, therefore, composed this holy treatise CHATUH SHLOKI—in order to enlighten the devotees of the PUSHTI MARG (the path of grace) about the cardinal aims of human life under PUSHTI MARG (the path of grace) representing or portraying respectively each one of the human objects in each one of the four shlokas (couplets) separately, as is evidenced by the VAARTA SAHITYA (STORY LITERATURE) of the PUSHTI MARGA.
SHREE RANA VYAS and SHREE BHAGVAN DAS SANCHORA themselves had the good luck of listening to the text emanating from the lotus- countenance of SHREEMAD VALLABJACHARYA himself.
SARVADA SARVABHAVAN BHAJNIYO BRAJADHIPAH,
SVASYAMEVA DHARMO HI NANYA KVAPI KADACHANA (1)
Our exclusive religion (duty) for certain is that the Lord of Vraj, Shree Krishna, the all-in-all of the Vraj-devotees depending solely upon Him and Him only is ever adorable with all over beging, viz. sureending our physique, our senses, our vital spirit, our spouses, our wealth, our sons and our homes to him or, for that matter, by disposing our corporality, our senses, our vitality and our inner-self to him. No other action at any time and clime can be religion (duty) to us. As a matter of fact can no other religion (duty) fulfill the cherished aim of the believers of Pushtimarg.
EVAM SADA SVA KARTAVYAM SVAYAMEV KARISHYATI,
PRABHU SARVASAMARTHO HI TATO NISCHINTATAM VRAJET. (2)
Thus perpetually deporting themselves according to their religion the (service and contemplation of the Lord), the omnipotent Lord, the omnipotent Lord, even without having been prayed to therefore, shall fulfill all the mundane and vedic ends of the devotees’. The devotee’s of Lord Krishna should remain carefree giving up anxiety of the temporal as well as the transcendental world. He accomplishes with His inherent sovereign power every wish of the devotees. In fact, it’s God alone who is the sole wealth of the followers of Pushtimarg
YADI SHREE GOKULADHISHO DHRATAH SARVATMANA HRADI
TATAH KIMPARAM BRUHI LAUKIKAIRVAIRAPI. (3)
What else can be the fruits obtainable through terrestrial and vaidic means if Shree Gokuladhish is conceived with all your being in the heart? What other object is there more exquisite then the super most benevolent shree Purushttom? Only the Lord gratifies all the desires of the devotees; none else can, when he is seated in the heart, all the other wordly and vedic means are automatically rendered ineffectual.
ATAH SARVATMANA SHASHVAD GOKULESHWAR PADAYO,
SMARNAM BHAJANAMA CHAPI NA TYAJYAMITI ME MATHIH. (4)
Hence the universal devotion and recollection of the lotous-feet of Shri Gokuleshwar with all one’s being devoid of all earthly attachment is never abandoning able, so aver l (Mahaprabhu Shreemad Vallabhacharya).
A selfless devotee consecrating God in his heart never cherishes even a whit any other means or fruits-mundane of vaidic-whatsoever in his inner self. The highest perfection of a devotee always desiring His glimpse lies in his perennial recollection and divine service of Lord-SHRI KRISHNA. Thus Lord is the ultimate object of believers in the path of grace. None, except Him, is their cherishable goal.
